Bangkok- The Land of Thousand Smiles

Flight: AirAsia (Total cost for 4 ppl: S$976.00)
Hotel: The Berkeley Hotel, Pratunam (Total cost for 4 ppl: S$634.62)

Day 1
27/09/13

Reached BKK at about 1pm local time. Was approached by the taxi rental booth personnel and we spent 800 bahts for the ride. Kind of feel cheated...
The road in BKK was really really scary. So many cars and they just change lanes like nobody's business. My God! Cars dun lookout for cars and humans. Humans dun lookout for cars too. Had the most stressful 30 mins ride from the airport to our hotel.

We went to the Paragon for some Naraya shopping. We walked quite a distance because we lost our way while trying to get to the MBK centre. Finally went to the mall but there isnt much for us to shop cos it mainly sell electronics.

We went to the Mr.Jones orphanage for some dessert! A cute and nice dessert stores. Crowded with youngsters too. Must-go again next time!

Day1 ended with lots of street food explored. A tired day from the traveling and walking.

Day 2
28/09/13

Went to the Grand palace in the early morning. As usual, tourist place will definitely flooded with u-know-which-country ppl. Avoiding them is just impossible. Thank goodness ppl separate us from them.

And then to Yaowarat for more shopping. Well, in the end we bought more food lah. Back to shopping at the Naraya. Crazy. Lol.

Finally we settled our dinner with lots of roadside food bought back to ths hotel.

Getting into their habit in crossing the road. Close ur eyes and just step out. Cars will definitely let u pass. But all of this is just so terrifying. Still thinking of the ang mo's expression when our cab almost knock onto her. Cant imagine it in singapore. U will be kindly treated with a middle finger. Hahahaha.

Day 3
29/09/13

Final day of our shopping trip. And it's a sun... so... Chatuchak market! It was just OMG just by looking at the size of it. The scorching sun just burnt me out.
Took the BTS train instead of taxi. Their trains are basically clean and I think it's even much better than the trains in Singapore.

Spent all our money on clothes, clothes and more clothes. And as usual, we dabao all our food back to the hotel. Peisi and Shi hui went to the Paragon to change more money since they spent all their money away in the weekend market.

After we had our lunch, we went to the Platinum mall with a brand new clothes. Because we were all sweaty after the chatuchak.
Platinum mall sell so many cheap and nice clothes! But I just got no idea why they close so early. We reached there at about 6pm and most of the shops are already preparing to clsoe. by 7.30pm, more than 80% of the shops are closed. Good and bad points lah. Close early so we wont need to spend money again. hahaha...

Day 4
30/09/13

We check-out quite early cos we are afraid of the heavy traffic. But to our surprise, the roads are clear! LOL. Had a cup of starbucks inside the airport while waiting for time to pass.

U need a real damn good stamina to shop here in bangkok. Not only will u hv to cross 6 lanes on the road without being knock down, there r so many stairs tt u need to climb. Not to mention about the whole stretch of stalls ahead of u.

Had a really nice experience in Bangkok.
Of course, I enjoyed the company of my 2 dear friends and sister.
We had also decided to come BKK once a year to stock up our clothes! LOL

Redang

18/07/13- 21/07/13

Accommodation: Laguna Redang Resort
Price: S$430/pax

A 4D2N trip to the nearby Redang is finally here! I hv been dying to go there about almost to 5 years ago. But because of dad's and mum's disapproval, the plan had been put on hold until now. Guess it's because they had seen me and my sis traveled tgt alone for quite a few years now so he is much less worried bah.

So we booked the tour at 5 stars travel at Jurong point in April. We wanted to stay in Coral Redang instead of Laguna because Ying had heard abt the terrible crowd at Laguna. But too bad, Coral is fully booked in July. So we booked for a Garden View in Laguna.

Took a long 10 hours bus ride starting at Golden Mile Complex at about 9.30pm. After the checkpoint and everything, it's time to sleep. Then we reached Yong Ping at about 1hr plus later. The driver so impatient and he dun even bother to explain to us lah. For toilet or for food?! He just talked loudly to us saying that if we dun wan to get down the bus then he's going to lock the bus lor. FINE! so we stay in the bus for 30mins since we are not hungry at all. 1 thing about this kind of overnight bus ride is that the drivers are normally non-Singaporean. Mostly are from M'sia so they speak limited english and seriously, poor service and attitude.

Finally reached Merang Jetty at about 7.30am and the boat will only come at 9am. So we linger around, take a few pics and cant help but nap a little. Nearly to 9am, 1 bus after 1 bus came with lots of 'Chinese' people. Talking so loudly and squeezing here and there. Cant tahan them seriously. And because tt jetty is soley for laguna resort, you know how regretful I felt about booking that resort?!!!

And then after rounds of rushing and squeezing with these ppl, we made it to the boat. Took about an hr plus to reach Redang Island finally!

Okay, perhaps we are too tired from the rides and noisiness, the moment we reached and stepped on the island, there isnt any 'wow', 'pretty' or any aweness. LOL. Pretty disappointed cos it's not up to my expectations. After we had our lunch, finally got to check-in to our room. The food was nice and we had a good and pretty view of the sea. and then the room was so spacious! with 4 beds. tat is beyond our expectation though.

We decided to forgo that afternoon's snorkeling trip because all of us were too tired. So we nap till about 3pm and then we went to rent the snorkel equipment and off we went to the beach for our snorkling!

As usual, crowded beach, crowded sea. it's so noisy. And with all these noise, how to see my fishes?!!! But we still had a great time ourselves playing with water, seeing fishes and playing with the waves. Had a taste of taking pics with all our cameras. hahaha... yes... those underwater cameras.

At night, there is a little bar outside laguna where there are band playing live. we also walked along the beach to other resorts. All the resorts are lined up side by side along the same beach. and we bought bubble tea while sitting down at other resort listening to their live bands. Comparing Laguna with other resorts, the very distinctive difference is the noise level and the types of occupants at the different resorts.

The next day is full of events and water activities. Early morning we went to the Marine Life Park. And I thought i am gonna miss it cos i had thought it's a deep sea thing. But luckily it's a shore thing. Didnt managed to see lots of fishes because of the CROWD!

Next up at 3pm we went to the deep sea and only my sis and Ying went down cos i really dun dare to go in. Fishes, corals all picture taken and videos recorded. To show me what I have miss out. Hahaha... but still, i wouldnt go in. the laguna guards were all funny and fun-loving bunch. Almost wan to throw me into the water! hahaha... End of the day, I am sun burnt and red! Perhaps too addicted to the water, after the tiring snorkling trip, we still went over to the beach. To the other end of the beach to try and catch a glimpse of nemo. 1 end of the beache which we went to on the first day we saw baby sharks. and this time round at the other side, the water is much clearer and the fishes can be seen at very shallow level. Saw baby sharks again with STINGAYS! lots of other nemo's relatives were there too. Finally at about 6pm plus, we decided to call it a day and went back for shower before proceeding for our dinner. BBQ dinner that night and all the food was simply fantastic! Laguna resort's food buffet was the best and most memorable! hahaha...

Then we went back to the recreation centre to look at the photos and treated them ice creams too. LOL. After tat we went to the night bar, ordered our mocktails and then started to go thru our Hokkaido trip planning. Stayed there till almost midnight before we finally went back to our room, packed our bag and dated with our pillows.

Made a pact with each other that we die die also have to wake up early to catch the sunrise since we missed it on the 2nd day. So we woke up at abt 6am with dark sky and twinkling stars. Not too long later, the sky begin to brighten up. and then we started our rounds and rounds of jump shots. hahaha... tiring sia... Finally caught my sunrise at Redang!

Not all sun rise are the SAME! :)

Check-out at around 8.30am and then we waited for our ferry. Luckily it isnt that crowded as compared to the first day.

And then it's more than 10hours of ride back home! 5 stars travel!!! what the hell u guys are doing sia? the driver is trying to starve us by not dropping us for lunch at all. and at 6pm before we can finally had our food at Yong Ping. And then? it took almost 3hrs plus for him to get us to Tuas! Because he stopped multiple time to top up his fuel TWICE?!?! WTH! Shall not let this matter ruin my blog post. Seriously thinking of sending a complain letter to the company.

So end of Redang trip now. Everything is fine except for the crowd and the unpleasant bus rides. The sun, the sea and the fishes! Worth the trip down! Till then my nemos! :)

Adelaide Day 5

29/03/13

It's Good Friday back in singapore and here too...

The streets were so so quiet. shops all closed.

But we've got so much time before our flight.

So we walked and walked and walked again...

Finally we gave up and went to our hideout- Central Bus station!

To sum up the whole trip:

Adelaide is by far the most relaxed places i have went thus far. Remote and isolated. Perhaps to some it's really boring here. which is true lah.

Guess i wont be visiting it again any sooner. lol... ppl are really nice and welcoming. compared to landscape, of course, nth can beat my New Zealand. :)

Adelaide Day 4

28/03/13 (Thurs)

Adelaide City Highlights

Half day city highlight tour. But i guess the most highlighted part of the tour is the chocolate factory!

Yummy. It's the quality not the quantity that they care about. It's not exported out too bcos they 'dun care abt expanding'.

went to the colonel light's lookout to have a nice view of the Adelaide's cityview.

Drove past the Glenelg Esplanade to drop a few of us off..

We had about more than 5 hours to tour around before meeting sis's friend for dinner.

so we walked and walked and walked. no idea where to go so we just go according to our instincts.

had a nice dinner at San Churro. chocolates again. yes. super nice. and we are full just by having the churros and a fruit chocolates dip.

Yummy!

Happy Easter day! :)

Adelaide Day 3

27/03/13 (Wed)

Victor Harbor & McLaren Vale Highlights

Another day for a full day trip out.

Had a stopover at the Scottish town of Strathalbyn on the banks of the Angas River.

It's was a 180 degree turnover lah. was so hot yesterday and it's so cold today! must be the rain!

Strong wind and cool air. i really dun mind...

drove past the old river port of Goolwa where the Murray meets Lake Alexandrina.

Had a photo stopover at Port Elliot too. As usual, amazing sea views!

Lunch time at Victor Harbor and we stroll along local crafts ad cafes. Too bad the famous horse tram was cancelled. so... we camwhore lor...

Also drove through the Horseshoe Bay, Rosetta Heads and Encounter Bay which was famous in whaling history.

And then it's to the McLaren Vale region to view the iron stone cottages and almond groves too. After that it's free time to explore the streets too. chocolates again...

Back to adelaide at about 5 plus. Really glad that Woolworths opened till 9pm. Time for dinner shopping again! lol... Fried maggi...

Adelaide Day 2

26/03/13 (Tues)

Barossa & Hahndorf Wine Experience

Rise and shine!

We didnt want to miss our bus so we went to the central bus station to have our breakfast.

then we set off in a small group to the Barossa Valley for some wine tasting at the famous Jacobs Creek Winery. had about 7 glasses?! red wines is really not my liking...

after that we went to the Mengler Hill Lookout to have a view of the whole valley.
somehow it's similar to Perth but the color is just not right. lol... guess it's the season...

After that, it's another round of tasting at the Saltram Wine Estate in Angaston. Really had too much wine in a day, so i pour away the red wines after a few sips.

finally, it's lunch. i need some food to keep me away from getting too tipsy.

I had my roasted chicken while sis had her favourite German sausages. The food there really taste nice and it's immersed in so much smashed potatoes. It's either we eat too slow or the ppl there just eat too fast.

Drop by at the Herbig Family Tree in Springton. Apparently this family lived under the tree for many many years with 6 children! Cant imagine that....

We had a little free time at Hahndorf, Auss oldest German settlements.

Bought souvenirs and tasted some of their food.

The highlight of the whole trip i must say, is the Koala Spotting!

Optional tour from our guide. Amazing to see these cute animals out in the wild instead of seeing them in the wildlife park.

Cute creatures hugging on the tree, sleeping and spending their relaxed lives up on the top of the tree. Envious.

Westerners are the friendliest i must say. 2 days out in their land and i dun feel any slightest outcast. Warm and friendly. If only Asians are half like them.

Adelaide Day 1

25/03/13 (Mon)

Booked a tour with Euro-asia during the Groupon sale.
Airport Tax was about $425. Visa was $20.
Anyway, to total up, it cost $1166 per person.
Wasnt cheap but it wasnt expensive either because we are flying by Singapore Airlines.

Hotel throughout the stay was at Oaks Embassy or otherwise known as Precinct.

Not bad though. Was near to the station and most of the places of interests.

And so, let's begin the journey! Bcos blogger had a limit on the amt of photos uploaded, I hv decided not to post all the photos up here. You guys can access these photos in my Facebook. :)

Let's begin...

It's D-day to the city of churches! Woke up early in the morning at about 2.30am??!!

Dad and mum sent us both to the airport before they go for their work. So we have a lot of free time to roam around the airport and their duty freessss. Had a long 6hrs of flight with quite an empty plane.

Reached Adelaide at about 5pm local timing. Luckily the airport is quite small, so it's easy to make our way out to find the shuttle bus.

Got to our apartment pretty fast and was happy with the surprised upgrade too. And they have a tight security system too.

After we settle all our things, awed by the spaciousness, off we went to find supermarket! All the shops were closed at 5 pm and we dun wanna spent too much money on the dinner too. And since we have such a fully equipped kitchen, y not cook?

Only managed to find a nearby PRC-opened supermarkets. Not really a nice supermarket though. All the biscuits were EXPIRED! So we just got the bare minimum and faster get out from there.

Simple dinner, kimchi noodles!

Singapore Staycation

27/02/13

First ever staycation for most of us.

Went there after eunice and my night shifts.

Didnt expect that the room is that big. Most surprising is the open concept toilet. lol.

Had lots of fun and laughters esp during the night.

Thanks to all my girls for making this staycation a successful one! Love u all deep deep! :)
